BURCH	Louis Albert [Bertie]	Private G/15207, "C" Company, 11th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. Killed in action Saturday 21st October 1916 with British Expeditionary Force. Age 23. Born Aldbury, enlisted Tring. Son of George and Eliza Burch, of Aldbury. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 7 C.
DELDERFIELD	William	Private 55726, 7th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). Killed in action Sunday 26th May 1918 in France & Flanders. Age 28. Born Cheddington, Bucks, resident and enlisted Watford. Son of William and Annie Delderfield, of Aldbury, Herts.; husband of Ivy Delderfield, of 23, Bridge St., Berkhamsted, Herts. Buried in MESNIL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, Somme, France. Grave I. B. 12.
DUMPLETON	Charles William	Private 7983, 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action Saturday 7th November 1914 in France & Flanders. Age 29. Born and resident Aldbury, enlisted Berkhamsted. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dumpleton, of 70, Ellismere Rd., Berkhamsted, Herts. Commemorated on LE TOURET MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. LINES	Roland Walter	Lieutenant, 1st Field Company, Canadian Engineers. Died Saturday 9th September 1916 in France & Flanders. Born Aldbury 14th March 1877. Son of John James and Mary Lines, of Aldbury, Tring, England. Architect (Edmonton, Alberta). Architect and engineer by profession. Enlisted 15th January 1915 at Edmonton, Canada, aged 37. Height 5ft 7¼ins, girth 38½ins, complexion fair, eyes grey, hair dark brown. Religion Church of England. Buried in ALBERT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, Somme, France. Grave I. K. 4. MARSH	Sidney	Private 3409, 3rd Company, Australian Machine Gun Corps. Killed in action Friday 21st September 1917 in France & Flanders at Nonne Bosschen which was taken the previous day from the enemy. Age 25, born 4th March 1892. Emigrated to Australia aged 19. Religion Church of England. Resident of Wongan Hills, West Australia. Farmer by trade. Son of Daniel George and Elizabeth Ann Marsh, of Stanbridge Crossing, Leighton Buzzard. Native of Aldbury. REEDMAN, MM	Arthur	Private 910228, "A" company, 46th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). Awarded the Military Medal (M.M.). Died Friday 27th September 1918. Age 26. resident Springside, Saskatawan, Canada. Born Northampton, 20th January 1892. Son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Reedman, of Aldbury, Hertford; husband of Elsie Maud Reedman, of 182, Earlham Rd., Norwich. Calling Probationer for Ministry. Enlisted 14th July 1916, age 24, at Winnipeg. Height 5ft 6½ins, girth 38ins, complexion fair, eyes blue, hair fair. Vision, right eye normal, left eye poor without glasses which cetificated him as a recruit for stretcher bearing only. Son of Charles Edward and Sarah Reedman, of Aldbury, Tring, Herts; husband of Kathleen Reedman, of 52, Ceres Rd., Plumstead. B.A. of Wesley College, Winnipeg. TURNEY	Edward Charles	Private 36482, 6th Battalion, Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment). Killed in action Sunday 1st October 1916 in France & Flanders. Enlisted Hertford, resident tring. Formerly 6012, Hertfordshire Regiment. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 11 D.

WILLMORE, MM	George	Lance Corporal 12590, Bedfordshire Regiment posted to Hertfordshire Regiment. Killed in action Friday 23rd August 1918 in France & Flanders. Born and resident Aldbury, enlisted Hertford. Awarded the Military Medal (M.M.). Commemorated on VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 4 and 5. Son of Henry Fowell Buxton and Katherine Buxton; husband of Elizabeth Langley Buxton, of Tring, Hertfordshire. Buried in MEDJEZ-EL-BAB WAR CEMETERY, Tunisia. Grave 9. C. 1.
EDWIN	Edward Francis	Sergeant 742166, Pilot, 61 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died Thursday 14th November 1940. Age 24. Son of James Edwin and of Sarah Edwin (nee Fairfield), of Luton; husband of Clarice Daisy Edwin, of Luton. Buried in LUTON GENERAL CEMETERY, Bedfordshire. Grave 1903B.
JELLEY	Cyril Frederick	Stoker 2nd Class P/KX 133148, H.M.S. "Culver", Royal Navy. Died 31st January 1942. Aged 31. Son of Thomas and Mary Arm Jelley, of Tring, Hertfordshire. Commemorated on PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Hampshire. Panel 69, Column 1.Note: HMS Culver was a Sloop of the Banff type, built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. (Quincy, Massachusetts, U.S.A.). She was launched on 27 November 1928. At 23.31 hours on 31 January 1942, U-105 fired a salvo of four torpedoes at the Sierra Leone convoy SL-93, west of the BAy of Biscay, and observed two hits and a large explosion. Although the U-boat thought that they had hit an ammunition freighter, they had in fact hit HMS Culver (Y 87) (Lt.Cdr. R.T. Gordon-Duff, R.N.) that blew up with the loss of the commanding officer, seven officers and 118 ratings. There were only 13 survivors.
