The World
War 1 Roll of Honour covers all those who served, whether they returned,
were wounded or died. The World War 2 details are taken from "A
short History of First Castlederg Presbyterian Church " by R.S.K.
Neill- printed by 'The Tyrone Constitution' 1993. The number of families
recorded in 1948 (1st Castlederg) were 133. "After seeking
permission from the committee, to which they gave their assent, Rev.
Corkey then proceeded to have a War Memorial erected. Members of the
British Legion attended this ceremony on 31st Oct. 1948. The Memorial
was for those who served and lost their lives in WW2, 1939-45."
and "Rev. Colin CORKEY B.A.- R.A.F. Chaplain 1942, serverd
in Eng. & Scot. until demobilized in 1946. 16th Dec. 1952 resigned
from 1st Castlederg." Colin CORKEY (mentioned below), was
his son. At present there are no details of those who died in World
